District Grand Charity Fund Trust
Information from the Report of the Executive Council for the year 2005 and the accounts for the half year ended 30-9-2005 circulated to District Grand Lodge Members for consideration and adoption at the DGL Meeting on February 11, 2006
The major Project on hand continued to be the Cornwallis Project at Bangalore. The position as on 31st December is that the contract for the construction of the Project has been already awarded at an estimated value of Rs. 19,059,630 and a mobilization advance of Rs. 1,000,000 has also been paid. Excavation work for the foundation has commenced. A model building is also ready for view by the prospectives. The Project is expected to be completed and be ready for occupation by October 2006.

Tsunami Relief Disbursements during the period amounted to Rs. 5,53,892 as follows :

Donations from Lodges and brethren during the half year ended 30-9-2005 amounted to Rs. 279,966 and the Charity collections at the DGL meeting Rs. 11,055. Half yearly dues allocated to Charity amounted to Rs. 50,985. Together with Rs. 436,652 obtained as interest on investments the total current fund availability was of the order of Rs. 778,658.
Out of the amount so available, Rs. 167,500 was disbursed to 37 students undergoing professional and other courses of higher learning. Four dependents of deceased and indigent Masons and a distressed person continued to receive monthly assistance; the total amount disbursed on this account being Rs. 13,750. Further, assistance to the tune of Rs. 119,500 was provided to the Accountant Mr. B.R. Srinivasan to settle his medical bills consequent of a serious accident. The entire amount was contributed by the District Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons, Craft Lodges and individual brethren.
Contributions towards Tsunami Relief amounted to Rs. 454,942. Together with bank charges (Rs. 4,298), the total outlay on Charitable work done by the District was reckoned at Rs. 7,59,990, leaving a cash surplus of Rs. 18,668, for being added to the Corpus Fund. Depreciation on buildings, Rs. 23,632, when brought to account, resulted in a net reduction of Rs. 4,964 in the Corpus Fund.
The Corpus Fund Balance which was Rs. 17,463,616 at the beginning of the half year stood at Rs. 17,458,652, on Sept 30, 2005 and was represented by :
